Enhancing Brain Connectivity With Infra-Low Frequency Neurofeedback During Aging: A Pilot Study.Olga R. Dobrushina, Larisa A. Dobrynina, Galina A. Arina, Elena I. Kremneva, Evgenia S. Novikova, Mariia V. Gubanova, Ekaterina V. Pechenkova, Anastasia D. Suslina, Vlada V. Aristova, Viktoriya V. Trubitsyna & Marina V. Krotenkova - 2022 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 16.
Aging is associated with decreased functional connectivity in the main brain networks, which can underlie changes in cognitive and emotional processing. Neurofeedback is a promising non-pharmacological approach for the enhancement of brain connectivity. Previously, we showed that a single session of infra-low frequency neurofeedback results in increased connectivity between sensory processing networks in healthy young adults. In the current pilot study, we aimed to evaluate the possibility of enhancing brain connectivity during aging with the use of infra-low frequency neurofeedback. Nine (...)

Contextualism and the Problem of Knowledge Ascription.Ekaterina V. Vostrikova & Petr S. Kusliy - 2021 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 58 (4):110-126.
The paper explores the contextualist approach towards the semantics of knowledge ascriptions. The authors discuss the relevance of these studies in semantics for the major issues in virtue epistemology. It is argued that despite the advantages that contextualism has over its alternatives (in particular, relativism and subject sensitive invariablisism), it still requires a more elaborated compositional semantics that it currently has. We review several concrete contextualsit proposals to the semantics of the verb know in light of their applicability to the (...)

    Philosophy and Linguistics.Ekaterina V. Vostrikova - 2020 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 57 (3):201-216.
This paper is an overview of the contemporary discussions in interdisciplinary studies of meaning of natural language expressions. The paper discusses the latest work published in two interdisciplinary journals «Linguistics and Philosophy» and «Natural Language Semantics» most relevant for philosophy of language. The paper focuses on two general topics: the semantics of singular terms (proper names, pronouns, demonstratives) and the semantics of belief-reports. The paper discusses the recent proposal about the interpretation of pronouns by [Stojnic et al., 2019] according to (...)

The Elimination of Carnap’s Critical Arguments Against Metaphysics Through Formal Semantic Analysis of Natural Language.Ekaterina V. Vostrikova & Petr S. Kusliy - 2019 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 56 (4):78-98.
The authors explore Carnap’s (1931) famous critique of Heidegger’s metaphysics and argue that, from the perspective of contemporary formal semantics of natural language, Carnap’s criticism is not convincing. Moreover, they provide direct empirical objections to Carnap’s criticism. In particular, using empirical evidence from languages like Russian that have negative concord, they show that Heidegger cannot be accused of assigning illegitimate logical forms to his sentences about Nothing because terms like “Nothing” can be used non-quantificationally and the fact that it is (...)

    Language as a Dynamic System.Ekaterina V. Vostrikova & Petr S. Kusliy - 2020 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 57 (1):110-130.
In this article, we examine the key ideas of Wilhelm von Humboldt about language and their relevance to the contemporary research in the field of linguistics. In his works, N. Chomsky describes Humboldt as a key predecessor of the generative approach. The authors discuss the concrete aspects of Humboldt’s influence on generative linguistics drawing special attention to his notion of Form. The authors also observe that Humboldt’s works also contain statements about the deep differences that exist between different languages, as (...)

    Understanding in philosophy of language.Ekaterina V. Vostrikova & Petr S. Kusliy - 2017 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science 54 (4):62-67.
This paper addresses the question of understanding of language expressions. We argue that understanding of language expressions can be successfully studied within a general approach of formal semantics and pragmatics. We show how three types of meanings of expressions (truth conditional meaning, presuppositional component and implicatures) contribute to our general understanding of what was said and how those meanings can be studied within the formal approach.

Yurynets “Edmund Husserl” (1922-1923). [REVIEW]Vlada Davidenko - 2023 - Filosofska Dumka (Philosophical Thought) 3:130-149.
The article presents a comparison of the interpretations of Edmund Husserl’s early philosophy, created in different local contexts: ones by Polish researchers (Kazimir Tvardovsky, Jan Luka sevich, Vladyslav Tatarkevych, Roman Ingarden, Aleksander Rozenblum-Augustowski) in the period 1895-1945, and Ukrainian philosopher Volodymyr Yurynets. This comparison takes place against the background of considering the differences in the conditions of the development of philosophy in pre-war and interwar Poland and the USSR. The author demonstrates the similarity of the readings of Husserl’s phenomenology by (...)

    Značaj mladih protagonistov v Plavtovem Hišnem strahu in Trinovčevem.Nada Grošelj - 2019 - Clotho 1 (1):55-73.
Pogost motiv v rimski paliati so medgeneracijski konflikti.

  13. Bog, duša in sebstvo v Alkibiadu Prvem God, Soul and Self in Alcibiades I.Boris Vezjak - 2003 - Phainomena 45.
S tem, ko sebstvo poistovetimo z Bogom, nekako uidemo problemu samonanašanja in postavimo vprašanje samovédenja (...)

Impact of Personal and Situational Factors on Taxpayer Compliance: An Experimental Analysis.V. Umashanker Trivedi, Mohamed Shehata & Bernadette Lynn - 2003 - Journal of Business Ethics 47 (3):175-197.
This study used a laboratory experiment with monetary incentives to test the impact of three personal factors (moral reasoning, value orientation and risk preference), and three situational factors (the presence/absence of audits, tax inequity, and peer reporting behavior), while controlling for the impact of other demographic characteristics, on tax compliance. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) reveals that all the main effects analyzed are statistically significant and robustly influence tax compliance behavior. These results highlight the importance of obtaining a proper understanding of (...)

We introduce proof nets and sequent calculus for the multiplicative fragment of non-commutative logic, which is an extension of both linear logic and cyclic linear logic. The two main technical novelties are a third switching position for the non-commutative disjunction, and the structure of order variety.

Features of ideological confrontation in the Jewish environment of Ukrainian society: customs against Khassid.V. S. Furkalo - 2003 - Ukrainian Religious Studies 26:116-123.
The emergence of Hasidism as a mystical form of the Jewish tradition during the eighteenth century caused organizational divisions in Judaism. This split, which swept half of the Jewish world of Central and Eastern Europe, was largely caused by the extraordinary success of the new religious movement among the common people. Many researchers point to the attractiveness of Hasidism, which was, first and foremost, the over-accessibility of truths proclaimed by the followers of Boal-Shem- This is the founder of the movement. Recent years have seen the attention of physicists and philosophers, both at home and abroad, increasingly drawn, as is evident in the professional literature, to the question of the possibility of the existence of particles moving at speeds greater than that of light and to determining the physical and philosophical consequences of this hypothesis. The philosophical consequences have to do primarily with the causality principle. We are in receipt of two articles in which these questions are examined from different perspectives (...)

The Mathematization of Scientific Knowledge and the Theory of Decisions.V. M. Glushkov - 1978 - Russian Studies in Philosophy 17 (1):22-32.
The "mathematization" of knowledge is a historically inevitable process governed by two circumstances. In the first place there is the need for the further extension of knowledge in all areas of human activity, whether it be the study of natural phenomena or the theory of taking decisions in the economic or social sphere. Marx pointed out long ago that a science reaches its highest levels only when it succeeds in making use of mathematics. The second circumstance rendering the process of (...)

The topic of consent in paediatrics is made more difficult, and at the same time more interesting, by the complexity of the issues involved and the consequent diversity of viewpoints. In a teaching session for senior medical students on consent in paediatrics it proved necessary to reinstate previous learning from a range of disciplines. Philosophical medical ethics, developmental psychology, communication skills and the appropriate legal definitions all contributed to a proper understanding of the cases presented. The two most important additional (...)

The introduction of ethics courses in the middle classes of the school in the present circumstances seems to be useful and important. Since the ideological neutral ethics course, which would not boil down to purely formal, spiritual, meaningless norms, is difficult to imagine now, the idea of a system of electives that, in their totality, would realize the task of ethical education on the basis of world-view pluralism, naturally arises. The general principle behind this approach can be formulated as an (...)
